Description

This will be a fun and social event where you will get to explore the magical world of Japanese Sake (nihonshu) and Otsumami (Japanese small bites and appetisers). This event is limited to only 10 guests, so you’re guaranteed a unique and personal experience!

Each season has its own style of sake in Japan. Luckily we are in the winter season which is when the fresh sake (‘namazake’ or unpasteurized sake) is made. These boast both a fresh taste and rich fragrance.

We will be serving 5 types of namazake from different regions of Japan served in a unique collection of Japanese serving vessels accompanied by a selection of Atsuko’s dishes from her cookbook Otsumami.

We are especially excited to taste 3 types of sake made from the same rice – ‘hattan nishiki’ – by 3 different brewers, including our favourite Jikon (而今). Jikon is covered by sake fans because of its fresh taste and high rarity.  We are lucky we could source a bottle to share.

The other 2 types of sake are made from another quality sake rice – ‘yamada nishiki’.  It will be equally interesting to compare and contrast the aromas and taste.

We will also be serving a freshly brewed sparkling sake from Awa to welcome you to an intimate supper-club style dining in the casual inviting ambience of Atsuko’s Kitchen on Columbia Road.
