Description
Atsuko’s Kitchen is delighted to host a special Shojin Ryori (Japanese temple cuisine) cooking class with Atsuko’s esteemed cookery teacher, Mari Fujii from Kamakura Fushiki-an in Japan, a leading authority in this traditional, plant-based cuisine.
Mari Fujii has taught temple cuisine for over thirty years. She has published a number of cookbooks, including one in English the enlightened kitchen. In this class, you will learn the art of preparing traditional, mindful dishes that focus on simplicity, seasonality, and balance. Shojin Ryori is not only a culinary practice but also a spiritual one, offering a deep connection to nature and inner peace through food.
Join us for an immersive experience that offers a comprehensive introduction to the essence of Shojin Ryori. You will discover how to combine local ingredients to create innovative and inspiring dishes through both demonstrations and hands-on cooking. This unique opportunity to learn directly from Mari Fujii will culminate in a communal dining experience where we will gather around the table to enjoy the Shojin Ryori meal we’ve prepared.
